Spurs Hang On For Third Straight Win
The San Antonio Spurs defeated the host Washington Wizards, 146-143, at Capital One Arena on Monday evening.

The contest got out to a high-scoring start as the Spurs led, 38-34, after one quarter. They held the edge through the second, but the Wizards kept it close and cut it to a three-point game by halftime. The score stayed tight through the third and was tied at 95, heading into the final frame. The pace picked up in the fourth but the teams played to a standstill, capped off by a mid-range jumper by DeMar DeRozan, which tied the score at 133, forcing overtime. The Spurs scored the first bucket in extra time and were able to keep one step ahead the rest of the way to earn their third straight win, while this marks the end of an eight-game win streak for the Wizards.

DeMar DeRozan led the way for the Spurs with 37 points and 10 assists, in 40 minutes of action. Dejounte Murray added 25 points, 17 rebounds, five assists, and three steals, while Keldon Johnson tallied 21 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal. The Spurs shot 53 percent from the field, including 6-of-17 from deep.

Meanwhile, Bradley Beal led the Wizards with 45 points on 20-of-37 shooting, in 41 minutes. Russell Westbrook followed up with 22 points, 14 assists, 13 rebounds, a steal and a block, while Alex Len totaled 17 points, 10 rebounds and a block. The Wizards shot 53 percent from the field, including 6-of-20 from long range.

The Wizards (27-34) will look to bounce back as they play host to the Lakers on Wednesday. The Spurs (31-29) take on the Heat in Miami on Wednesday.
