San Antonio Spurs at New Orleans Pelicans

The San Antonio Spurs defeated the New Orleans Pelicans, 110-108, at Smoothie King Center on Saturday night.

The Spurs (30-29) appeared to be hitting on all cylinders offensively and on their way to a potentially comfortable victory during a first half that culminated with them holding a 61-52 lead. However, the Pelicans (26-34) would come out of intermission a more focused squad, eliminating all but one point from their deficit going into the final period. The fourth quarter was mostly tightly contested, but San Antonio finished on an 8-5 run over the final 2:04 after falling behind by a 103-102 margin to secure the victory.

DeMar DeRozan paced the Spurs with 32 points, adding eight assists, seven rebounds and one steal. Derrick White registered 22 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block. Keldon Johnson turned in 14 points, nine rebounds and two assists. Dejounte Murray furnished 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Zion Williamson led the Pelicans with 33 points, 14 rebounds and two assists. Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball made matching 24-point contributions while dishing out six and four assists, respectively. Steven Adams mustered just four points but hauled in 10 rebounds, one assist and three steals.

The Spurs remain on the road and visit the Washington Wizards on Monday night, while the Pelicans remain home and host the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night as well.
