Spurs Host Cavaliers on Friday
The San Antonio Spurs play host to the Cleveland Cavaliers at AT&T Center on Friday.

The Cavaliers (24-18) have been one of the biggest surprises in the NBA, and they had another shocking result on Wednesday. Cleveland went into Salt Lake City and handed the Utah Jazz a beatdown. That's a Jazz team that many teams can't beat anywhere, let alone in a challenging environment like that. Darius Garland had yet another gem in that masterclass, recording the first triple-double of his career. The injury to Collin Sexton is the thing that really allowed him to step into this role and take over this offense, making Cleveland one of the most dangerous teams in the NBA. Evan Mobley looks well on his way to a Rookie of the Year Award as well, and we haven't even discussed a breakout season from Jarrett Allen either.

The Spurs (15-26) have really been struggling, and a loss to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday emphasizes just how real the struggles are right now. That marked their seventh defeat in their last eight games, getting beat by some of the worst teams in the NBA. A COVID breakout certainly didn't help, with Derrick White, Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson all missing most of those games. That's a sad development because Dejonute Murray has been truly amazing. The former Washington guard dropped a career-best 32 points in that loss against Houston on Wednesday, grabbing a triple-double as well. He can't do it all on his own, though, despite how hard he's trying to do just that!

These teams split their two meetings last season, with the road team winning both matchups.
