2023 Fantasy Outlook
Sutton turns 28 in October, at which point he'll be more than three years removed from the ACL tear he suffered Week 1 of 2020. His two seasons since then have been major disappointments, with the 2018 second-round pick turning in 776 and 829 receiving yards while scoring only two TDs both years. He's never caught 60 percent of his targets in a season, even in 2019 when he had 1,112 yards, though it's arguably excusable given that he's always dealt with poor QB play and never had an aDOT below 11.6. While Sutton isn't a burner, his 4.54 40 time was more than sufficient at 6-3, 218, and he landed top 5 among WRs at the 2018 combine in the short shuttle (4.11 sec.), three-cone drill (6.57 seconds) and broad jump (124 inches). He might have lost some of the speed and agility after his injury, and last year's lack of production with Russell Wilson at QB seems more concerning after the Denver offense improved somewhat toward end of the season with the help of a huge finish from fellow WR Jerry Jeudy — Jeudy finished with nine fewer targets than Sutton but 143 more yards and four more TDs (both played 15 games). Sutton has even been mentioned as a trade candidate, with Tim Patrick coming back from last summer's ACL tear and the Broncos using a second-round pick on Oklahoma WR Marvin Mims to give new coach Sean Payton a speedy deep threat. No concern about OTA absence
Broncos GM George Paton suggested Thursday that he isn't worried about Sutton's absence from voluntary offseason workouts, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. "It's 100 percent voluntary," Paton said. "It's the first week of the offseason program. I've talked to Courtland. He's in a good place, and I'll just leave it at that."
ANALYSIS
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported Tuesday that Sutton's absence from voluntary OTAs is related to wanting a new contract. The wideout has two years and approximately $27.6 million remaining on his current deal, with only $2 million of that guaranteed. It's not the type of situation with especially high risk for a holdout, and Sutton looks to be especially important for Denver's offense after the team traded WR Jerry Jeudy to Cleveland in the offseason. It's not yet clear who will start across from Sutton at wide receiver, nor is it clear who will get the nod under center Week 1. The Broncos still have a lot to work out this spring and summer, with the upcoming NFL Draft presumably being a piece of that puzzle.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
GM not concerned with absence
Broncos general manager George Paton recently said he's unconcerned about Sutton, who remains away from the Broncos' voluntary workouts due to what is reportedly dissatisfaction with his contract, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Paton noted workouts are "100 percent voluntary" at this stage, adding that both he and head coach Sean Payton have talked to Sutton and the wideout is "in a good place." Sutton still has two years remaining on his current contract, but with only $2.4 million guaranteed over that span and the 28-year-old qualifying as the team's clear-cut No. 1 receiver at the moment, he may feel the urgency to see that dollar figure rise significantly.

Sutton initially traveled the expected path for a second-round pick, topping 700 yards as a rookie (2018) and 1,100 in his second season. Things got off track with an ACL tear Week 1 of
Year 3, and while he made it back last year to play 17 games, his receiving output was minimal. Sutton actually got off to a nice start with 471 yards and two TDs through six weeks, only to go
the rest of the year without scoring a touchdown nor reaching 70 yards in a game. Those first six weeks accounted for 54 percent of Sutton's total targets and 61 percent of his yards. And while ugly QB play helps explain the poor efficiency, it's harder to excuse Sutton's 19.0 percent target share, a massive dip compared to his 2019 breakout (25.8 percent). Sure, the Broncos had a deep group of pass catchers, but there was no dominant force among the bunch and Jerry Jeudy missed seven games. The hope now in Denver is for either Sutton, Jeudy or both to become a true No. 1 WR, with the help of new franchise QB Russell Wilson and coach Nathaniel Hackett (former Packers OC). There's competition for targets between Sutton, Jeudy and 2020 second-round pick KJ Hamler after Tim Patrick suffered a torn ACL early in training camp, but the addition of Wilson gives Sutton a nice chance to rebound and perhaps even exist simultaneously with Jeudy as a fantasy asset.
