Escapes with decision victory over Dakota Zimmerman at Bellator 206
StrawweightBellator
September 29, 2018
Melendez defeated Dakota Zimmerman via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at Bellator 206 on Saturday in San Jose, Calif.
ANALYSIS
Melendez came into this fight as a huge favorite, and Zimmerman gave her all kinds of trouble. Melendez had some success with her striking early in this fight. She then took the fight to the ground. On the floor, Zimmerman was more than game and nearly finished the fight via armbar. For the rest of the fight a similar story played out. Melendez won the standup exchanges, and Zimmerman worked for submissions on the ground. Melendez did enough to win, but she must continued to improve after entering the sport at an older age.

June 13, 2017
Melendez (undisclosed) was forced to withdraw from her flyweight bout against Sadee Monserrate Williams at Bellator 180 on June 24 due to injury, Marc Raimondi of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Melendez was set to face Sadee Monserrate Williams in her second MMA pro fight, but suffered an undisclosed injury that forced her to withdraw. She took down Sheila Padilla in 47 seconds (TKO-punches) in her debut this past November. An opponent for Monserrate Williams will not be assigned.
Makes quick work of Sheila Padilla
StrawweightBellator
November 19, 2016
Melendez defeated Sheila Padilla via TKO (punches) at 0:47 of round 1 at Bellator 165 on Saturday in San Jose, Calif.
ANALYSIS
In her professional MMA debut, Melendez did not waste very much time. She stayed patient for a few seconds. She then closed the distance and landed a right hand that dropped Padilla. She was out before she hit the mat. Despite being a big favorite, the quick knockout is a bit of a surprise. In her two kickboxing fights for Bellator and Glory, failed to get finishes and went to decisions with over-matched opposition. That was not the case here.
