Losing streak hits three
FlyweightUFC
October 7, 2023
De La Rosa lost to JJ Aldrich via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Entering as a -160 favorite and seemingly in good position to snap a brief two-fight losing streak, De La Rosa struggled from bell-to-bell and now looks like a release candidate. It was widely assumed Montana would have a significant edge in the grappling department, but she attempted just one token takedown the entire fight. It didn't connect. Instead, she seemed content to engage Aldrich in a prolonged kickboxing match, which she had zero chance of winning. Having lost three in a row and sporting a 1-4-1 record in her past half dozen bouts, De La Rosa's time with the company could be coming to an end.

Hopefully this bout sticks after De La Rosa's last two opponents backed out. De La Rosa is 5-4-1 in her UFC career and she'll face a seemingly rejuvenated Aldrich who is coming off a TKO victory against Na Liang back in August.

De La Rosa is set to face off against Stephanie Egger at UFC Vegas 80 on Oct. 7, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.

De La Rosa, who was defeated in her most recent bout with Tatiana Suarez, will look to bounce back against Stephanie Egger. The 28-year-old American fighter currently holds a 5-4-1 record during her UFC career.
Steamrolled by Tatiana Suarez

De La Rosa lost to Tatiana Suarez via submission (guillotine choke) at 2:51 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The largest underdog on the entire card at +600, this felt from the very start like De La Rosa was being fed to the wolves in an attempt to build Suarez back up, and that ended up being exactly the case. Montana is a submission specialist who does her best work on the mat, but having Suarez on top of you is a different feeling than most any other fighter on the roster today. De La Rosa is going to get another fight with the company given the level of competition she was facing here, but her 1-3-1 mark in her last five fights dating back to September 2020 suggests we shouldn't expect much.
