2023 Fantasy Outlook
The perennial All-Pro defensive end had his 2022 season cut short due to an ankle injury, but Donald was on pace for another solid season before the injury (49 tackles, 5 sacks in 11 games) and the 32-year-old has stated that he's "100 percent" in the offseason. The potential problem for a return to form for the nine-year vet lies in the talent lost alongside Donald; Jalen Ramsey and Bobby Wagner are both gone, and the rest of the defense lines up as one of the youngest in the NFL, which could lead teams to focus on double-teaming against the future Hall of Famer even more so than in years past. Announces retirement
Donald announced his retirement from football Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Donald had one season remaining on his contract and was due a $5 million roster bonus this weekend. He was still one of the best interior defensive linemen in the league in 2023, but retirement makes sense given that there's not a ton left to accomplish. Donald won three DPOY awards (2017, 2018, 2020) and a Super Bowl ring (2021), and he had at least eight sacks every season besides 2022 when he missed six games with an ankle injury. He retires two months before his 33rd birthday, sitting on 111 career sacks and locked in for a Hall of Fame spot. It's a massive loss for the Rams, though the blow is somewhat lessened by Kobie Turner's nine-sack rookie campaign in 2023.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
No urge to play any longer
Donald said in an interview Friday that he's leaving the NFL "at peace" and on his own terms, Sarah Barshop of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The future Hall of Famer described himself as both "complete" and "burnt out" after 10 NFL seasons. Donald went on to add that he didn't have the motivation to go through another training camp and full season at this stage of his career and that he was fully satisfied with everything he'd been able to accomplish in terms of individual honors and a championship.

Playing DT as the league’s most feared defender means Donald is subjected to constant double
teams that are at once futile yet also make it difficult to match the tackle/sack volume of the best
DEs. Donald’s 12.5 sacks and 84 tackles in 2021 marked his best IDP showing yet. That tackle
count was propelled by a generous assist tally (46) that’s likely to fall by half, but Donald can
offset it with greater sack production.
