Chiefs vs. ORDER

The first match of the day is a DreamHack Masters Spring clash, this time from Oceania, as Chiefs take on ORDER in the lower bracket, with the loser exiting the tournament in fourth place. This match looks to be balanced on the thinnest of margins, with both teams coming in after losses to Renegades and Avant, respectively. If ORDER want to win they will look towards their superstar, aliStair, while Chiefs look towards soju_j and apocdud to make the difference. This Chiefs roster comes into the match relatively untested, and their map pool has looked slim recently, with their main preference being Inferno. ORDER, on the other hand, have been playing quite often, and on every map other than Overpass recently have exceptional win rates on Mirage (90 percent), Vertigo (88 percent) and Nuke  (73 percent). If Chiefs want to create an advantage they will look to push the veto towards Dust2, where ORDER have been known to struggle. Overall, the difference maker, and value of this match, could be aliStair, who is the man with the potential to take this match over, and send ORDER to the Championship bracket.

Prediction: Chiefs 1-2 ORDER

  • CHEF Players to Target: apocdud ($12,300 Captain, $8,200 Flex)
  • ORD Players to Target: aliStair ($10,800 Captain, $7,200 Flex), Rickeh ($10,500 Captain, $7,000

mousesports vs. Astralis

The second match of the day goes over to Europe for BLAST Spring's playoff bracket, as perhaps the two most out-of-form teams in the world go head-to-head. Both teams only won one match in the group stage, as mousesports took down Dignitas, while Astralis were only able to best sAw. Both teams have been struggling for very different reasons: ever since the nerf of the Krieg (a scoped rifle that was considered stronger than the AK-47), Frozen has struggled to have the same impact for mousesports that he once did. Meanwhile, Astralis have two new players trying to mesh with one of the longest-standing cores in CS:GO. Snappi and JUGi have not been horrendous for Astralis, but replacing two of the most accomplished players in the history of the game was always going to be a tall task. The map vetoes for these two teams have two clear preferences: mouz will likely ban Overpass, while Astralis always remove Mirage, the pick should be equally clear as Astralis favor Nuke, and mousesports are known for their performances on Train. If mousesports want to return to form, and take down this weakened Astralis side, taking Train will be crucial, as mousesports are currently 1-1-1 in their last three matches on their home map. This match could be one of the most tightly contested of the day, and the value should come from whichever team ends up on top, but ropz for $11,400 should be great value, even if mousesports fall in the match.

Prediction: mousesports 2-1 Astralis

  • mouz Players to Target: ropz ($11,400 Captain, $7,600 Flex), woxic ($10,200 Captain, $6,800 Flex)
  • A Players to Target: device ($14,700 Captain, $9,800 Flex)

Beyond vs. Lucid Dream

The next match is back in DreamHack Masters Spring, this time in Asia, as Beyond and Lucid Dream face off in the same situation, a lower bracket elimination game, with the winner going to the top three. The last two games of the day look to be by far the most one-sided games, as Lucid Dream come in as heavy favorites and will look to dismiss Beyond as they have consistently in their last three meetings, taking all three 2-0. This match should be one that Lucid Dream look to make a statement in, that despite tough losses to Vici and TIGER they will still look to be a threat in the Asian scene. In particular, they will look towards PTC, cbbk and foxz to make the difference, especially matched up against the firepower from Olivia and qqGOD. In their most recent two matches, Beyond have take the match to four different maps, and been thrashed on all of them, with Vertigo and Dust 2 unlikely to be played, Beyond will have to look towards Nuke or Train to grab the advantage, even though Lucid Dream also excel at both maps. Overall, Lucid Dream should be far too much for Beyond to handle. With how volatile this match could be, Lucid Dream could prove to be the massive value of this slate, especially with their recent record against Beyond.

Prediction: Beyond 0-2 Lucid Dream

  • BYND Players to Target: Olivia ($10,500 Captain, $7,000 Flex), qqGOD ($9,600 Captain, $6,400 Flex)
  • LD Players to Target: PTC ($12,000 Captain, $8,000 Flex), cbbk ($9,600 Captain, $6,400 Flex)

Dignitas vs. Vitality

The final match of the slate goes back to Europe, and back to the first round of the BLAST Spring playoffs. Dignitas, who struggled through the group stage, with their only win coming against a slumping Virtus.pro, take on Vitality, who tied both NiP and ENCE before demolishing Astralis 16-6. Vitality were upset by sAw in the final match of the group stage in a shocking 16-11 defeat, but they will look to put that behind them as they move into the playoffs. This series could also end up being quite one-sided, as Vitality come into it as the heavy favorites with Dignitas struggling for form, firepower and cohesion since their formation. Well, re-formation; this roster has the core of the legendary Ninjas in Pyjamas roster that dominated the beginning of CS:GO, but age and time have caught up to the old guard, who have consistently been de-throned by the young blood of the CS:GO scene. If Dignitas want to pull off the upset they will look to keep the map veto on the most team-play, strategy-oriented maps, where they can better cover their lack of a true superstar. Whether that be Nuke or Inferno, two maps that Dignitas favor, they will need at least one of them to have a chance in the series. Vitality will aim towards Dust 2, Vertigo or even Nuke, maps where ZywOo, the best player in the world, can control the match. While the veteran Swedes of Dignitas look towards a Cinderella run through the BLAST Spring playoffs, they should falter at the first step as Vitality, bolstered by ZywOo, loom large.

Prediction: Dignitas 0-2 Vitality

  • DIG Players to Target: f0rest ($11,700 Captain, $7,800 Flex)
  • VIT Players to Target: ZywOo ($13,200 Captain, $8,800 Flex), RpK ($9,000 Captain, $6,000 Flex)
