Cleared to play
October 19, 2020
Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm confirmed that Johnson will be available for Saturday's season opener versus Iowa after the NCAA and Big Ten approved his request for a waiver, Tom Dienhart of GoldandBlack.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The NCAA granted Johnson a waiver last week, but he still needed approval from the conference in order to compete immediately. With his transfer situation now having been resolved, Johnson will face a familiar opponent in his Purdue debut, as the cornerback spent his first three seasons of college with the Hawkeyes. He contributed 14 tackles in 2019 before leaving the Iowa program.
