Lands at Incarnate Word
FCS Incarnate Word announced Wednesday that Calzada (shoulder) has signed with the program as a transfer from Auburn.
ANALYSIS
Incarnate Word marks the third stop for Calzada, a heralded recruit for Texas A&M during the 2019 cycle who spent three years with the program before moving to Auburn ahead of the 2022 campaign. After falling short in his battle for the Tigers' starting role with T.J. Finley coming out of training camp, Calzada ultimately didn't see any action for Auburn before undergoing surgery on his non-throwing shoulder in September. The 6-foot-4 signal-caller should be back to full health well in advance of the fall, and he could have up to three years of eligibility to use if the NCAA grants him a medical hardship waiver for the injury-shortened 2022 season.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
Calzada threw for 2,185 yards and 17 touchdowns last season, spending the majority of the campaign as the starter at Texas A&M. He had offseason surgery on his non-throwing shoulder, though is expected to be healed in time for fall camp. Calzada will contend with TJ Finley, who started the final three games last season for the Tigers, including the Birmingham Bowl. Finley completed just 54.7-percent of his passes in 2021, while Calzada was not much better, coming in at 56.1-percent while with the Aggies. Oregon transfer Robby Ashford will also end up in the mix, as well as Holden Geriner. Calzada has the experience and perhaps the competitive edge of the quartet, though he may not be the most physically talented quarterback in the group.
