DFS College Basketball: Friday Preview

DFS College Basketball: Friday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

The focus in college basketball today shifts to the mid-majors, with several teams in action that are looking to make a run at regular season conference titles. The Friday DraftKings slate features four games tonight, as the $12 Heating Up contest is highlighted with a top prize of $2,000 and a 7 p.m. EST start time.

Targets

Jalen Crutcher, G, Dayton ($7,700 DK)

Crutcher has been one of the best players in the Atlantic-10 this season and he's an attractive fantasy option from the standpoint that he rarely ever is taken off the court. He'll welcome a rematch against Saint Louis in which he posted 27 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Crutcher has also outperformed this salary in six of his last eight games, with the two underwhelming games coming against a VCU team that is one of the best in the country defensively.

Jeenathan Williams, F, Buffalo ($7,000 DK)

The Buffalo/Toledo game checks-in as the highest projected scoring game with Buffalo's up-tempo style and Toledo's top-ranked offense in the MAC. Williams has been the go-to-guy offensively accounting for nearly 30 percent of the team's shots. His minutes have been down the last two games with those both being blowout wins, but he's lived up to his salary in the 13 games prior to that. In competitive games, he's likely to see at least 35 minutes (and he has an eye-popping 1.1 fantasy points per minute).

Setric Millner Jr., F, Toledo ($5,400 DK)

Sticking with targeting the Buffalo/Toledo game, Millner is an intriguing low-cost option considering he's likely to play around 35 minutes in a game that may reach the 80s. He's also been an efficient option for Toledo, connecting on 52 percent of his two-point shots and 34 percent from deep. Millner has recorded over 25 fantasy points in two of his last three games which would exceed expectations.

Fades

Tavin Lovan, G/F, UAB ($6,900 DK)

Lovan gets a jump in price after playing well in a back-to-back with Louisiana Tech after checking in at only $4,900 last week. However, he was averaging less than 15 fantasy points per game in three games prior to that. A pivot to Jalen Benjamin ($4,700 DK) who leads the team in three-pointers made, is a more enticing low-cost option against an Old Dominion defense that is allowing opponents to shoot 37 percent from deep.

Spencer Littleson, G, Toledo ($6,400 DK)

Littleson has been one of the best three-point shooters in the country shooting 48 percent and making over 3.5 per game, but he'll face a difficult test against a Buffalo squad that ranks third nationally in opponent three-point percentage at 27 percent. It's hard for him to make up for a lack of points in the other categories as he's not active on the glass or in the passing game. Even if you're looking to stack several players from this game, he's a player I would fade.

Zimi Nwokeji, F, Dayton ($5,800 DK)

Nwokeji is coming off a career-high 29-point performance against Rhode Island in which he saw increased playing time due to foul trouble and the game going to double overtime. That leads to an uptick in salary as the last time we saw him, he was only $4,400. His minutes have been too sporadic and his lack of productivity in the other statistical categories leave too much downside to play him. I would look to Crutcher and Ibi Watson ($7,100) as the only reliable options on the Dayton side.
