Training Camp Notes: Pass catchers in the news

• A huge sigh of relief can be heard from Bills' fans as Sammy Watkins did not re-injure his problematic foot, as he simply rolled an ankle in Sunday's practice. Although he certainly might miss some practice time, it appears that he'll be on track for the regular season. He's currently being selected about 32 picks in average drafts, and for those willing to deal with the risk of injury, Watkins provides league-winning talent, as evidenced in 2015, when he played in 12 games and posted 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns.

• After suffering a mild shoulder sprain in Friday's practice, Donte Moncrief is expected back at practice Tuesday. The four-year veteran turned 24 today, and after missing seven games last year, he'll look to finally put it all together and have the breakout season that many have been waiting for. If Andrew Luck can recover well enough to play most of the season, Moncrief will benefit from being the team's primary boundary receiver in a pass-heavy offense. With an ADP of 72, he's a risky selection, but if he does break out, he'll absolutely smash that ADP.
• A non-contact neck injury knocked Quincy Enunwa out of Sunday's practice. The WR had a similar scare earlier in the offseason, and it turned out to be nothing, so hopefully positive reports come out of Jets' camp soon. Should he check out well, he showed major talent last year, as he showed the ability to break tackles after catching short passes, and also the ability to run away from defenders when making big plays. Since he can be effective getting open near the line of scrimmage, he may be able to thrive despite potential poor QB play. With an ADP of 121, the fantasy community isn't taking him seriously, but the Jets will likely have to be a pass-heavy team, and he's one of my favorite sleepers this year.
• Amari Cooper has missed three of the last four practices with an undisclosed leg injury. For now, it's probably safe to draft him as you normally would, but at this point, he's missed enough time that it's worth keeping an eye on.
• Lions' tight end Eric Ebron has missed six practices with a hamstring injury, but was running on the sidelines Sunday, so it would seem that he'll be back in action in the near future. The third-year player has the potential to have a breakout season should he stay healthy. Detroit can certainly use his ability to run deep routes down the seam, and they'll also need him to step up after losing Anquan Boldin and his 24 red zone targets from 2016. With an ADP of 108, those who wait until the top TEs are off the board could end up with a major value.
• No news on the severity yet, but Josh Doctson injured his hamstring Sunday, and although he walked off the field under his own power, he had a noticeable limp. After missing his rookie season with an Achilles injury, he missed out on valuable developmental time, and if this injury lingers, it could continue to slow his progress as he looks to earn a major role in the Washington WR corps.
• Despite spending a second-round draft pick on him, Curtis Samuel's listed as a third-stringer on the team's unofficial depth chart. The fact that he's missed practice time with a hamstring injury might have much to do with this designation, but the more time he misses, the more difficult it'll be for him find himself seeing heavy snaps, especially early in the season. Should he continue to miss time, his ADP of 154 will likely fall at least another round.
• After going back and forth over contract particulars, Jay Cutler signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins. The QB had an efficient season when he played for Adam Gase in 2015, and with a much more diverse set of weapons in Miami, Cutler should become a decent QB2 for fantasy purposes. Also, as I had mentioned in Friday's blog, DeVante Parker is the type of WR that Cutler likes to lean heavily upon, as Parker is a strong physical presence who plays on the boundary.
• Keep an eye on Javorius 'Buck' Allen during the preseason, as he's reported to be having a strong training camp, and he's running more decisively than he did last year. Although he's no lock to even make the team, Terrance West isn't exactly a world-beater, and it wouldn't be crazy to think Allen could find himself in the mix for early-down work. Also, should Danny Woodhead not return to form as he returns from a torn ACL, Allen caught 45 passes as a rookie in 2015, so he could become a factor in this backfield as a runner and /or receiver.
