NHL Playoff Observations -- Mid-Week Special

Just a few things that caught my eye ...

  • It's 4 a.m. -- do you know where your favorite Predator is? Check the nightclubs in Phoenix. No wonder Alexander Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn looked like they were dogging it in Game 2. They were tired little puppies.
  • How many posts can be hit in one series? I've lost count and it's only Game 3 of the Rangers - Caps.
  • So, who really needs Radulov and Kostitsyn any way? Not the Predators. I wonder if either one gets back into the lineup this series.
  • Is it me or did the Flyers just squat and crap out a horrific effort Tuesday? U-G-L-Y.
  • Human interest is one thing, but I think the CBC has given more face time to Braden Holtby's parents than the goalie himself. Moral of the story? Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be goalies.
  • Four weeks. Apparently that's how long it takes for an 'exhaustive search'. And that's the description of the search process for Montreal's new GM, Marc Bergevin. Four weeks. Exhaustive?
  • The Devils showed they could win without Ilya Kovalchuk. Don't be surprised if the Devils sit him for Game 3 to help his aching back heal. Game 4 doesn't roll until Sunday and that would give him a full week of rest.
  • It's 11:30 on a Wednesday night -- how many IV bags are hanging in the dressing rooms of the Rangers and Capitals? Yikes. I'd hate to be the equipment manager who has to handle the stench-filled equipment after that epic battle.
  • Pekka Rinne is back. I don't think I need to say anything more.
