NHL Playoff Observations -- Black Hawk Down

Just a few things that caught my eye ...

  • All hail, Mike Smith, king of the crease. Dominator from the desert. Wow.
  • Henrik Lundqvist, I didn't know you had it in you -- he launched a Tortorella at the NHL and its officials in his post-game comments. Coaches get fined $10,000 for comments like that; what will King Henrik get?
  • Is Paul MacLean right or has he lost the Sens already? I've never seen Daniel Alfredsson as mad as he was in third period, ostensibly for not being on the ice for a key PP. And sure, Jason Spezza looked disengaged at times but should he have been stapled to the bench for the first 6:50 of the third period?
  • So, where exactly was Patrick Kane? Disappointing season; disappearing postseason. You might be a maestro with the puck but we need more than a dip and dangle.
  • Back to King Henrik -- does he really believe there's a conspiracy theory that wants the Sens in the next round and not the Rangers? Note to the King -- you play for NEW YORK. An original six team. You know, home of the NHL offices? Wow.
  • Welcome back to Montreal, Alain Vigneault -- your days in Vancouver are over and you can speak French ...
  • Your fantasy playoff team has been decimated, but look at it this way -- so has just about everyone else's. There aren't many people who picked Kings, Coyotes, Panthers, Senators or Capitals.
  • No goals in his last 17 games -- is Ryan Kesler really as good as that 41-goal performance last season made us think he was?
