NHL Playoff Observations -- Sunday

Just a few things that caught my eye ...

  • Sidney Crosbyis dirty. The persistent criticism is not contrived. I have seen his best and now, I have seen his worst.
  • "Shut your five hole!" Marc-Andre Fleury is a mess. A massive mess.
  • Kevin Klein is many things but speedster isn't one of them. Until today. That was Sportscenter-worthy.
  • Back to Mr. Crosby -- how old are you exactly? Mr. Sanitized-for-the-Media quipped, "I don't like him ... I don't like anyone on that team," when asked why he pushed Jakub Voracek's glove away from him. I know nine-and-ten-year-olds who aren't as petulant as that. Wow.
  • Roberto Luongo is not the reason the Orcas went down 0-2 to the Kings. But then again, Curtis Joseph was hung out to dry in 2003 when his mates managed a measly six goals in four first-round games ...
  • Any one take Marcel Goc in their playoff pool? Anyone? Anyone?
  • I have to give it to Philly. For all the crap that happened, not one Flyer took a shot at Crosby's head. Or at any of the Pittsburgh stars. The same cannot be said for the Penguins.
  • How did Henrik Sedin get back on the bench so fast after that Dustin Brown hit? The image of him on his knees, knocking on the door to the bench, was haunting. So was the torque on his neck from the hit and the back of his head smacking the ice. The Canucks are sunk if both Sedins are out of uniform.
  • I wonder if Crosby and Claude Giroux will be able to kiss and make up enough to play together on the next Canadian Olympic team.
  • Down Goes ... Kesler? Scott Hartnell's falls are legit -- that guy's balance sucks. Ryan Kesler's involve a 3-meter springboard ...
  • The Flyers look unstoppable right now. But I am still concerned about Ilya Bryzgalov's 4.00 GAA in three games. He'll need to show a lot more next round.
