NHL Playoff Observations -- Sunday Night

Just a few things that caught my eye:

  • Parity is one thing; roster dilution is another. The Sharks are suffering with Niclas Wallin on the ice for 16:24. He was AWFUL in the third. Worse than usual. You'd almost think he was Mike Komisarek or something.
  • A concussion is a concussion; there's nothing "mild" about it. Godspeed, Patrice Bergeron
  • Have you seen Patrick Marleau? I think he must have had some kind of out-of-body experience in Los Angeles because he isn't in the one that's playing against Detroit.
  • Hmmm... a 3-1 lead a minute into the third. Ouch.
  • Hands up if you have Joel Ward in your playoff pool. I wish. He has more goals than the Sedin sisters combined.
  • Take a deep breath, Sharks' fans -- only three NHL teams have come back from 3-0 deficits; about 163 haven't pulled it off.
  • Top marks for creativity go to Vancouver's Green Men. The league has banned them from doing headstands beside the opposition penalty box so they arrived Saturday with cut-outs of themselves doing handstands and held those up instead. You gotta love the thumb to Gary Bettman.
  • Hey, Mike Fisher -- your wife got more air-time Saturday than you did. Oh ya -- she had a better game.
