Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News thinks the recent signings of Lou Amundson, Rodney Carney, Andris Biedrins (to an extension) and some other non-shooters is a strong indication that the days of Nellie-ball -- of Nelson's focus on offense at the expense of every other facet of the game -- are numbered.

It seems one of Joe Lacob's first official acts as owner of the Golden State Warriors will be to show Don Nelson the door and replace him, on an interim basis at least, with Keith Smart.

But here's the problem...  Nelson's focus on offense arguably made players like Stephen Curry, Monta Ellis and David Lee potential fantasy superstars for this season... and even made marginal options like Reggie Williams worth an extended look. Lose that focus and a lot of question marks emerge, like:

• Does the Curry/Monta Ellis backcourt survive a coaching change?
• Who gets the small forward job?
• Does Lee get used as a center? A power forward? Some of both?
• Does Biedrins get enough playing time to be a force in the shot-blocking category?

Now, I've been a harsh critic of Nelson over the years. I long ago lost patience with his seemingly random rotations and his penchant for burying talented players on the bench. But if I owned Curry in an early-drafting league -- and I would, if I ever managed to get a top-six pick in one of our expert leagues -- I'd be very concerned right now.
