Picks 8|FRONTS|31|FRONTS|10

Today is the last day where the entire board is an option each day. After today, figuring out who pitches in the seventh of a 3-3 game, or who bats 7-8-9 for half the teams in baseball, just becomes guesswork, cutting down the board even before we get started. I never did spray the board -- take some action on every game on a given day -- or mess around with prop bets. I suppose these are options if we being this back in 2011. I'll still be making picks each day, but from a handicapping standpoint, September in MLB is Week 17 in the NFL: tread carefully.

With that said, let's have some fun tonight.

You can shear a sheep many times, but skin him only once.

Baltimore +124, one unit. Brian Matusz against a Red Sox team that, after the weekend in Florida, will be shifting into play-out-the-string mode.

Cincinnati -106
, two units. I haven't had an opportunity to lose money on Aaron Harang in months! Better team at home at basically even money, and I'll fade the starter difference.

Washington +155, one unit. Betting Jordan Zimmerman worked so well last time, we'll try it again. I honestly don't know what to expect from the Marlins on any given day, and I wouldn't be surprised to find out I'd had less riding on their games than on those of any other team.

Detroit/Minnesota over 8.5 (+100), one unit. Brian Duensing's nice run came against five of the six worst offenses in the AL. The Tigers are better than that, especially against lefties. This is a 5-4 game.

Pittsburgh/Chicago over 10.5 (+100)
, two units. Betting the wind direction and a wretched Pirates pitching staff backed by just enough flyball hitters to be interesting.

St. Louis -132, two units. This has to end sometime, right? Carp against a horrible Astros lineup is a nice value at this price.

Los Angeles (NL) -108, 1.5 units. Fading Kyle Kendrick.

Colorado +126, two units. Hey, remember the guy who wouldn't shut up about the best team in the National League? He doesn't love this number -- it should be higher -- but he's jumping back on the bandwagon for a little while. You can just about guarantee I'll have the Rockies at plus money every day through the weekend.

Seattle -134, three units. Felix at home at less than 7-5 against a mediocre team? What am I missing?
