Now that I'm going team by team through the American League depth charts to build my custom cheat sheet, I figure it's an opportune time to post my observations about them. I can't promise I'll have time to blog about all of them, but I'll post a few.

Keep in mind I'm looking pretty deep in some cases - AL only leagues and deep mixed ones. And also looking for value. So when I say the Angels only have two pitchers (Kazmir and Santana) who interest me, that doesn't mean I'd rank them ahead of Jered Weaver - only that I think I'm more likely to own them given the expected cost.

The Angels have two starting pitchers that interest me - Scott Kazmir - (whom I mentioned in a post on Friday (Good K rate, better park, better division), Ervin Santana - I don't trust him, but if he slips a few bucks, his 200-K upside makes him a good gamble.

Kendry Morales still has room to grow as a 27-year old who will be in only his second full season in the bigs. Was struggling with the question of ranking him above or below Kevin Youkilis in the first-base portion of the cheat sheet (Youk's 3B eligibility probably makes him more valuable overall in a mixed league).

Howie Kendrick is still just 26 years old, and he stole 11 bags in 374 at-bats. Concerned he'll be a little trendy, but there's 15/20/.330 upside. Macier Izturis is a nice AL-only play given Kendrick's tendency to get hurt and Brandon Wood's lack of job security. And you know anyone getting at-bats for Mike Scioscia will run.

I think Erick Aybar will probably go for full price in expert leagues since he's got the job locked down, and he makes contact. Not a very good base-stealer though. Wood is kind of a crap shoot - can he make enough contact to stick around? If so, 30 homers is certainly possible.

Bobby Abreu's durability is worth a $2-$4 bump in leagues where replacement value is very low.
