What's up with Sidney Crosby?

"That Kid just ain't right."

Earlier this series, the Pittsburgh faithful put out an APB for Sidney Crosby's favorite stick. But now, it seems there's a lot more to worry about.

Not only is he not scoring, Sid's ice time is dropping, too. Try just 17:54 in Game 6 -- that's down progressively game-over-game from 22:35 at the start of the series. Yes, Game 3 was a small peak but clearly, there's something wrong.

Consider Game 6:

  • He was fourth in overall ice time on the Pens behind Evgeni Malkin, Jordan Staal and Maxime Talbot. The previous five games? He was either first or second in that category.
  • It gets worse. He was fifth in even-strength ice time behind Gino, Jordan, Ruslan Fedotenko and Maxie-baby. Yes, he took key faceoffs but he managed just one shot on net all game. And his shifts seemed way shorter than usual.

Then came reports that late after the game, he was seen sitting on a chair outside the Pittsburgh dressing room, huddled in heavy conversation with his dad and his agent. I doubt they were talking about Father's Day gifts. And the funny thing is no-one else in the bustle of the postgame bothered to park their carcasses on chairs... except those three.

Hurt? Tired? Both? Maybe the weight of our expectations are simply too much. He is just a kid after all.
