Lukewarm on the Conference Title Games

Maybe I'm just disappointed that the top-seeded Giants lost, but I'm having a hard time getting excited for Sunday's games. I suppose I'm rooting for the Cardinals because they're the biggest dog left, or the Steelers because they've been the best team all year of the remaining four. But none of these teams particularly inspires me in the sense that I'm dying to see the showdowns between them.

Contrast this with the Patriots-Colts games of the past few years, or the Pats-Chargers game in 2007. Those were dominant teams that destroyed everything in their wake, and it was a thrill to see them face off against each other. Same thing with the 15-1 Steelers vs. the Super Bowl champion Pats. Or the Giants getting a chance to take down the only 18-0 team in NFL history.

Don't get me wrong - it's the NFL, so I'm still going to watch them. And unexciting match-ups on paper don't necessarily mean unexciting games on the field. But I still can't remember when I last felt this detached from the NFL's final four.
