During his second season in the Association, Ball appeared in 47 games for the Lakers with 45 starts and averaged over 30 minutes of floor time per game. Ball recorded per game averages of 9.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists in his first season as a teammate with LeBron James. He improved his shooting relative to his rookie season and shot 40.6 percent from the field, including 32.9 percent from three-point land. On Dec. 15, Ball recorded his third career triple-double by registering 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a win at Charlotte. Three nights later, he posted a season-high 23 points, to go with six rebounds, three assists and two steals, during a close loss at Brooklyn. Ball totaled four double-doubles during the 2018-19 season. He also showed quick hands on the defensive end by averaging 1.5 steals per game. Ball racked up five swipes in a game on three occasions. The second overall selection in the 2017 NBA Draft, Ball displayed countless positive traits in his rookie season. Ball's ball-handling skills and his ability to find open teammates proved to be his two greatest attributes. The 6-foot-6 point guard averaged 7.2 assists per contest, which ranked second among all rookies (Ben Simmons). He posted 10 or more helpers on 13 separate occasions, while failing to post at least five assists just nine times in 52 games. Ball averaged double figures in scoring (10.2 points) while chipping in 6.9 rebounds for good measure. The rookie made is NBA debut on opening night, Oct. 19, and generated three points, nine rebounds and four assists in a home loss to the Clippers. Ball's ability to contribute in a variety of areas led to 13 Double-Doubles and 2 Triple-Doubles. He registered is first career triple double on Nov. 11 with 19 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds during a loss at Milwaukee. Ball's length also allowed him to quickly earn a reputation as one of the NBA's most talented perimeter defenders. His 2.5 steals/blocks per contest was a terrific total for any player - especially a guard - and Ball's defensive contributions only serve to raise his floor moving forward.
