Single-A Jupiter placed Alderman on its 7-day injured list Friday due to a broken hamate bone in his left hand, Jim Callis of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The bat-first outfielder slashed just .205/.286/.316 with 39 strikeouts and seven walks in 34 games at Single-A after the Marlins selected him with the No. 47 overall pick last season, so 2024 will be an important year for Kemp to get on track. He turns 22 years old in August and is limited to corner-outfield and designated-hitter work, meaning Alderman needs to show significant offensive potential in order to profile as a future big leaguer. He's expected to be ready to make his season debut at some point in May.
