2024 Fantasy Outlook
Martini came back to the States from Korea on a minor-league deal and spent most of the 2023 season at Triple-A Louisville, before the Reds selected his contract for the final two months to provide depth amid a rash of injuries. He provided a jolt for Cincinnati, going deep six times in 72 at-bats. He enters spring training in a competition for the final outfield spot along with Stuart Fairchild and Jose Barrero. Amazingly, the 33-year-old Martini still has a minor league option remaining, which could work against him, as both Fairchild and Barrero would need to clear waivers before a minor league assignment. ANALYSIS
Martini filled the DH role against right-hander Josiah Gray and delivered home runs off the aforementioned Gray in back-to-back innings. He was responsible for driving in five of Cincinnati's eight runs on the day. Although it's unlikely Martini etches out an everyday spot in the Reds lineup, he'll have the opportunity to force the team's hand with a hot start during TJ Friedl's (wrist) and Matt McLain's (shoulder) IL stints.

2019
A knee injury sidelined Martini for the first two months of the season, preventing him from building on the small-sample promise he showed in his rookie campaign in 2018. He was sent to the minors once healthy and only appeared in six big-league games for the Athletics before being waived in late August. The Padres picked him up and gave him 96 plate appearances down the stretch, in which he hit a modest .244/.344/.317. He did manage a much better .328/.432/.482 line for Triple-A Las Vegas, though it's hard to get excited about a 29-year-old's work in the minors. He's at least hit righties well in his limited big-league action, posting a .297/.395/.420 line over 256 plate appearances. Martini was claimed off waivers twice this offseason; first by the Reds and then by the Phillies. It seems more likely than not that he gets optioned to Triple-A to wait as depth in case injuries strike the big-league roster.
